Parent of School Children

As parents, we know that education is crucial in our children's lives. We send them to school hoping that they are cared for and taught well by the teachers and schools we entrust them to. These 6 children have put me on the parent side of the table, allowing me to see how school policy decisions affect families. This year my youngest child is in 5th grade, and the oldest two have graduated, so I have seen the entire range of education in Tooele County.

Ever since my oldest started kindergarten, I have volunteered regularly in my children's classrooms. Since that time I have also been active in the PTA, including serving on PTA boards and Community Council.

I know what it's like to have children that struggle with disabilities, and needing to work with school officials to help them thrive in school. I also know what it's like to have children that excel in some ways, causing me to need to work to find programs and situations that will help them thrive, too. I know what it's like as a parent to want a voice in the education process, so that is why I work for all parents to feel heard.
